For the first time, UNT is participating in International Open Access Week, and the Digital Scholarship Co-Operative and Libraries are taking the lead! Open Access Week is a global event, now in its 6th year, promoting Open Access as a new norm in scholarship and research.
DiSCo and the Libraries are teaming up with the College of Information and the Honors College, and UNT's Research and Visualization Environment (RAVE), to offer educational programming about the importance of OA @ UNT. There are three major events planned - a faculty panel, a student panel, and an Academic Poster Design Workshop.

SPARC ADDENDUMS AND AUTHOR RIGHTS WORKSHOP
This free workshop will provide tips and instruction on protecting your rights as an author when publishing your work and how to achieve wider dissemination of your work through the Open Access UNT Scholarly Works institutional repository. This workshop is being offered as part of the 2012 International Open Access Week @ UNT initiative and is sponsored by the UNT Libraries.
Kris Helge, Scholarly Communications Librarian for the UNT Libraries, will be the key presenter. Topics will include: Copyright Basics, Creative Commons Licensing, Authors' Rights, Using a SPARC Addendum, and Publishing Contracts.
