Pre-Recorded Session: Supporting decision-making about open publishing through streamlined metrics data governance and sharing

This talk summarizes three research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and Mellon Foundation that together aim to facilitate the exchange of scholarship impact indicators and usage metrics in a world of distributed, syndicated open publications. In this talk, the Project PI will provide an overview of:1) the global OA Book Usage Data Trust’s effort to develop and pilot a sustainable data space commons for usage and impact data about open publications,2) efforts to map out and compare the information supply chains and vocabularies related to open publication impact and use for books, journals, and data, and3) recommendations surfacing from 2023 US thought-leader workshop on “Exploring National Infrastructure for Publicly Accessible Scholarship Usage and Impact Reporting.”The talk will conclude with a summary of open research questions and active lines of inquiry.
