Conference Dinner at the Modern Art Museum w/ Featured Speaker Dr. Mark Hahnel (Figshare)
About This Session
We will have an amazing reception at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (see the image below), in which conference registrants will have access to the galleries of the museum and then retire for a dinner and dinner presentation with Dr. Mark Hahnel of Figshare, who will give a presentation entitled "Open Access Academia" on the following themes:
"Open access has changed academia. From being mandated in the UK, to the success of open access megajournals such as PLOS and the acceptance of APCs. So what is the next thing to shift the needle? New business models for the scholarly journal, uncoupling the scholarly journal into its components...or something completely different. Mark will speculate on the pros and cons of each of these ideas and their disruptive business models, as well as highlighting examples where the norm has already changed and what that means for the future of scholarly work and academia."
