Compliance with Funders’ Open Access Mandates: An International Comparison

About This Session

Over the last decade, several research funders across the globe have adopted open access mandates, requiring funded papers to be made publicly available. While several of these mandates allow for a 12-month embargo, others oblige papers to be made available no later than publication date. Combining Web of Science data with the Unpaywall tool, this presentation will analyze, for several councils across the globe, funded papers’ compliance with OA mandates, and compare those with non-funded papers. It will also discuss methodological challenges associated with the compilation of such indicators, and discuss policy implications.
