Getting from DFW Airport to Fort Worth

We encourage attendees to ride the Trinity Rail Express from DFW Airport to downtown Fort Worth: see the public transit section of the airport's website (be sure to click on "TRE" at the top of the page.  The Omni Fort Worth Hotel is a short walk from the final station on westbound trains (T&P Station).

Alternatively, there are a number of ground transportation options on the airport's website. Attendees receive a 10% discount on reservations made online using discount code D64C8 for SuperShuttle's Shared Ride service. The discount is valid for travel anytime between June 1 and 9.

Getting from Dallas Love Field (DAL) to Fort Worth

It's possible to take public transit from Dallas Love Field to Fort Worth, but travel time is over 90 minutes. However, door-to-door service is available through shared-ride (airport shuttle) services: see the "airport shuttle services" section of the parking/transportation page on the airport's website. Attendees receive a 10% discount on reservations made online using discount code D64C8 for SuperShuttle's Shared Ride service. The discount is valid for travel anytime between June 1 and 9.

Lodging

Attendees of the 2018 Open Access Symposium have access to the discounted room block at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel for attendees of JCDL 2018, making it even easier to attend both conferences.  The room rate is $152 per night.

Rooms may be booked by calling 1-800-THE-OMNI and providing the group name "JCDL 18", or by booking online (no group name required when using this link).  Note that the room block covers June 2 to 8 despite what the online link says. Rooms must be booked by May 4 to access this discountd rate.

We will arrange for transportation between the hotel and the symposium venue before the first event of the day and after the last event:

• Wednesday, June 6
  • morning: Buses will be just outside the main entrance of the Omni Fort Worth Hotel starting at 7:15 a.m. to make the ten- to fifteen-minute drive to the UNTHSC campus.  A bus schedule will be posted in the hotel lobby.
  • afternoon: A bus will be leave from the UNTHSC campus at approximately 5 p.m. (after the JCDL workshops) and return to the hotel.
• Thursday, June 7
  • ​morning: A bus will leave the Omni Fort Worth Hotel at 7:30 a.m. and go to the UNTHSC campus.
  • afternoon: A bus will leave the UNTHSC campus at the conclusion of the symposium and return to the hotel.

Alternatively, you are welcome to take the the #2 (Camp Bowie) bus provided by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority: it runs between downtown and UNTHSC on a regular schedule.
