Peace Ossom-Williamson

Peace Ossom-Williamson, MLS, MS, AHIP, is Director of Research Data Services at The University of Texas at Arlington. As an informationist and health educator, she has expertise in the provision of medical library services. In her current role, she leads the development of services around use of research data, including data management, data visualization, and use of data analysis tools.

Jeff Beck

Jeff Beck is a Technical information Specialist at the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the US National Library of Medicine. He has been involved in the PubMed Central project since it began in 2000. He has been working in print and then electronic journal publishing since the early 1990s. Currently he is co-chair of the NISO Z39.96 JATS Standing Committee and is a BELS-certified Editor in the Life Sciences.

Registration

Though the UNT Open Access Symposium 2018 is being held in conjunction with JCDL 2018, with a shared keynote, the two events require separate registration.  Those registered for either event may attend the shared keynote presentation on June 6.

Philip Bourne to speak at UNT Open Access Symposium 2018

We are pleased to announce that Philip Bourne, the Stephenson Chair of Data Science, Director of the Data Science Institute and a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia and formerly the Chief Data Scientist at the NIH, will speak at the 2018 UNT Open Access Symposium.  Stay tuned for announcements of other speakers and an exciting program!

Philip E. Bourne

Philip E. Bourne, PhD, FACMI is the Stephenson Chair of Data Science, Director of the Data Science Institute and a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia. Prior to that he was the Associate Director for Data Science (ADDS; aka Chief Data Scientist) for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a Senior Investigator at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Carly Strasser

Carly Strasser is the Director of Strategic Development for the Collaborative Knowledge Foundation (Coko). Coko builds open source software solutions for scholarly communication that foster openness, collaboration, and speed.
